For many years there has been a folk club in Mansfield. From October 2011 the venue changed location to the Black Bull pub, on Woodhouse Road in Mansfield, and the Club now meets each MONDAY Every Monday at 8:30 p.m. Doors open 8:00 p.m. Generally this is either an open singers' night or a guest night, alternating each week, but it does vary. There is a break halfway through the evening for a buffet (included in admission fee) and a raffle. 21	Feature: The Flying Toads The Flying Toads are a multi-instrumental band playing inventive arrangements of Celtic music. Their songs range from well-known lively standards to moving lyrical ballads and their tunes, taken from the Irish tradition, display an extensive repertoire of reels, jigs, polkas, and hornpipes from fast and furious tunes for dancing, to haunting Celtic melodies.
28	Phil Henry & Hannah Martin Here's one you mustn't miss... I saw them 4 times last summer!!! Fast becoming recognised as one of the finest slide guitarists the UK has produced, Phillip Henry is also a virtuoso on the harmonica. Regarded as, "one of the most extraordinary musicians around" (Steve Knightley, Show Of Hands), he brings together folk melodies of the British isles, blues, gospel and Indian music in his moving and original compositions and arrangements. His incredible beatbox harmonica technique is legendary on the festival circuit, and never fails to get the crowd on their feet and jumping. Hannah Martin is a singer, songwriter, fiddle-and-banjo player from Devon. Recently commended by Mike Harding for her "really fantastic singing" (4/5/11), her songs weave folklore and legend old and new with beautiful melodies, while retaining a strong sense of the living tradition.
